All About Baby Toys : Toys for Babies 6 Months & Older

Best Baby Toys 6 Months - If you're looking for children's toys online, you'll find a range of sites that specialise in toys designed to help infants and toddlers develop their learning skills. However, with such a vast range of educational toys to choose from, it can be difficult to establish which are right for your child. If you find yourself in this situation, it's best to first equip yourself with some important knowledge: namely, which toys exercise which parts of your child's brain, and what area of their learning skills need to be developed the most.

For instance, if you're looking for educational toys for babies, it's a good idea to buy products that will help them identify sights and sounds. So, books and toys that help your baby distinguish sounds and recognize colors should be high up on your list. Similarly, toys that help your baby match certain shapes together, or create patterns, are designed to stimulate their capacity for learning and prepare them for future learning activities. Simple puzzles - including path finders, jigsaws and card games - fulfill this objective.

As your child gets older, teaching them how to identify letters and numbers becomes paramount. There are numerous educational toys that revolve around reading and writing: for instance, giant flash cards for three to six year olds help your child learn how to count and how to spell. These learning aids can make a great deal of difference to your child's learning potential, and can complement their daytime learning activities - whether in playschool or primary school.

Moreover, most educational toys combine thinking and having fun into one package. Buy your infant some magnetic numbers or letters that can be stuck to your fridge and you'll be able to help them learn how to count and make words while you're going about your daily chores. And if your child is showing a quick grasp of numbers, why not experiment with some more challenging educational toys? For example, how about a simplified version of Sudoku, the popular number puzzle game, which can help introduce your young child to the daunting world of problem solving.

You can also buy your child an interactive map to help him or her learn about the countries and landmarks of the world through a series of fun activities. By making your little ones aware of the world in which they live at a young age, you'll be introducing them to basic geographical principles while encouraging their reading skills at the same time.

With a simple set of guidelines regarding child-development, you can equip your child with appropriate - and fun - toys which will help them learn and grow to their full potential.

I am a speech therapist and we always recommend toys that make noise. Ones that name colors or letters and such are really good b/c they also help them learn. Books that read or make noise are really good also. Toys that sing nursery rhymes are also great b/c with the repetition kids learn the songs.

Okay, I'll be honest on this but no one is going to like this answer…

I rarely wash my son's toys unless I just bought them. I'm concerned about the "people germs" and nothing else. In fact, I'd rather he get all the "dirt germs" and "floor germs" possible to keep his immune system kicking in high gear. I wash toys when I first buy them because you never know who touched them before you bought them, but other than that I don't really wash them unless they get dropped in a mud puddle or something. Baths…also just not concerned. Even if they pee in the water…urine is pretty clean too. They're not going to get sick from it.

Edit: and btw, my son is almost a year and has never been sick.

My guess is that they use the CDC Growth charts.

Here is the chart for weight:

I would just use common sense – you know best. Manufacturers make recommendations, but I'm sure you can decide if it is safe or unsafe for your child.

The push and rides are cool, but at your sons age, they'll move way to quickly out from under him when he tries to use it for support.

I suggest a regular old walker for him. Walkers are not dangerous as long as you've properly safety proofed AND have an eye on him at all times!!!
An exersaucer would be good too.

But… all he really needs to foster his curious nature is your interaction. Seriously, I had every toy under the sun for my son, but his favorite activity (that he got the most out of, I think) was playing with me & and husband.
Start reading to him now too. Won't do anything educationally, but it'll get him used to sitting with you while reading for later on.
Balls to chase after will aid him in wanting to crawl too :)

If it's got mechanical parts but a soft plush exterior I would check to see if the outside part can be pulled apart and washed. If it can't I would use the hand sanitizer that you spray on and not let your little girl have it for a few days while it dries and weakens. Tell them never to put anything your daughter plays with in their mouths because that's one of the way EV71 is spread…they should know about that since it's an epidemic in China at the moment. I'm sure they are not doing it to piss you off…but sometimes when people see babies they stop thinking. I know a LOT of strangers are always trying to touch my daughter and they go straight for her hands which she also puts in her mouth. I tell them not to but if they actually try it after I tell them no…I physically stop them. I also have anyone who touches my daughter to wash their hands very well- My husband and I actually wash my hands so much they have started bleeding.

:Yes i do that each day for my baby he is 5 months old and he usually crawls to the toy he wants try not to however over-stimulate him too fast just try a few and swap them every couple of weeks to keep him entertained. My husband often says I enjoy toys more then our son lol.

My daughter will be 5 1/2 month by christmas, so almost 6 months. I plan to buy her for toys:
—Baby Einstein "Push and pull toys" I can attach to her play mat—-they have a lot of these at Target or walmart for affordable prices
—-A couple of "Pat The bunny" type children's books—probably I'll get them at Barnes and Noble in the children's section. My daughter loves it when I read to her.
—some toys that squeak like rubber duckies etc.
—I'm considering getting a new mobile thing for her crib that hangs, this one I saw at Target plays music and is very decorative looking.
—-a touch toy—something that when you touch it, it lights up and makes sounds, I'm not sure which one yet, but I'm thinking of the phone one for her.

I already have one of these, but you could also buy her a colorful "stacker" those pyramid-shaped things with colorful rings on them (I think thats what theyre called)—at walgreen's they have one that lights up when you touch them and plays music. It says 6 mons plus on it.

My dad already said he's going to get me an exersaucer for her. also another tip. maybe this sounds tacky, but when ppl ask me what I want for christmas, I say something for my daughter instead lol. like my mom asked what I wanted and I said an umbrella stroller lol.
